The addition above the garage required drywall inside the existing garage, so we decided to paint the walls and finish the floor as well. I tried finishing the floor myself with an epoxy-based paint. Apparently it's hard to get a 40+ year old concrete slab clean, because the paint wouldn't stick. I followed all the steps (pressure washing, scrubbing with special cleaner, pressure washing, spot degreasing, pressure washing, over a week to dry, priming, multiple coasts of epoxy paint, etc) but it still failed miserably. We decided to call in some professionals and hired Stronghold Floors to finish the floor with a decorative chip coating. Even if my paint job had stayed on the floor, this still looks 100x better. Matt finished it off with some PVC baseboard trim. It ended up so nice that it makes a perfect play room, art classroom and more. Maybe I'll even get to pull the car in there some day :)
Painting ceilings is no fun!
